Alcohol Guidelines and Selections

For your convenience, the Hunter Museum retains a liquor license, stock, and bartenders. We also serve all soda, juice, and mixers. You may choose a full liquor bar, beer and wine only, and/or specialty drinks.

We have several bar options. Each option includes a bartender fee of $120 per bartender. Generally, you will need two bartenders for the first 100 guests and then one more per 100. Service needs including multiple locations, wine or champagne service, and/or passed drinks requires additional bar staff. The Events Manager can help determine how best to service your guests and help decide on number of bar staff.

The Museum owns stemless wine glasses and highball glasses for guest counts under 300. You may have the Museum glass available to your guests for $60 per 100 guests with an additional $40 per 100 if you have Museum wine glass place settings at each table. Otherwise, the bar uses disposable cups. Each bar is setup on a six foot table and covered with a black tablecloth. If you would like any other linen, you may rent it. Any of these details can be discussed and confirmed at any time with the Events Manager.We have three bar options.

1. Host Bar. You are responsible for all beverages sold in addition to the bar charge. The bartender will offer alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages such as soda and juice to your guests. Generally, an event's bar bill using Museum stock ranges from $14-$18 per person.

2. Cash Bar. In this option, you are still responsible for the bartender fee, but your guests will be responsible for their own alcohol. We will not be able to accept any credit cards or run tabs. This option is unavailable for wedding events.

3. Ticketing system. In this option, you are still responsible for the bartender fee, but with this system, you would bring and issue a certain number of host tickets to each guest. Each ticket is worth one drink. After the guest uses their tickets, the guest will be able to purchase their drinks. This option is unavailable for wedding events.

The Museum's alcoholic beverage license requires us to (1) request proper photo identification of any person who appears to the servers to be under the legal drinking age and refuse alcoholic beverage service if the person is either under age or proper identification can not be produced, and (2) refuse alcoholic beverage service to any person who, in our judgment, appears intoxicated. No guest may bring in their own alcohol for personal or event use for any reason. Alcohol may not be donated by any vendor or third party for event use.

Unless otherwise specified all bars will include our house liquor, beer, wine and non-alcoholic selections. Selections are subject to change so please check ahead if you have specific requests. If you would like an item not on the list, there is a non-stock policy which can allow this. The non-stock policy allows the client to order a special item and be responsible for the same amount ordered. All unopened special purchases may be given to the client the night of the event or other arrangements may be made. There is champagne available by request. All liquor pours are a standard 1 ¼ ounce, and all wine pours are a standard 5 ounce pour. Bar service closes a minimum of 15 minutes prior to event's listed ending time. Client must request alcohol service needs no less than thirty (30) days prior to event date and must secure bar bill with a valid credit card. No charges will be made to credit card unless bar bill is unpaid 30 days after invoice date without dispute. Any alcohol service request made less than thirty days out will be fulfilled as possible, but no special order requests can be honored.
