The Hunter Museum presents its Home school Workshop series, specifically designed for home school learners and their families. This series of four workshops provides unique topical museum experiences. Each session includes the following for learners and home school providers:

It's Cool to Be Cool - New York Cool: Painting and Sculpture from the NYU Art Collection
Fall only: September 16, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

New York City has always been a place of artistic experimentation and innovation. Artists of the 1950s and 60s, such as Andy Warhol, took the art world by storm. He and other artists caused people to question everything they knew about art and opened the door to experimentation. Discover the painting and sculpture of this brief period and the artists who could only be described as "cool." Let these artists inspire and inform your own artistic experimentation. Register
Museum Buildings and Their Architecture

Most of us visit museums to see what's inside, but have you ever taken a good look at the outside of a museum and considered its architecture? The Hunter Museum is made up of three buildings with very distinct architectural styles. The three buildings not only house and protect the Museum's collection but are also part of the collection. Each has a unique history all its own. Come learn about the largest pieces in the Hunter's collection as you discover the trends, styles and ideologies that influenced the architecture of the time. It's Elementary: The Elements of Art
Fall: November 18, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Spring: February 10, 2010, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Line, shape, color, texture, and space are the basic elements of art. Artists use the elements of art to create successful compositions. You can use the elements to discuss a work of art, dissect it and create your own masterpiece. Discover the elements of art in the Museum galleries and then put them to work in the studio where you will further explore composition in the making of your own art work. Register for November 18.
